CWAO Radio - Buwa Basebetsi  

Buwa Basebetsi, is a radio show produced by the CWAO in partnership with Simunye Workers Forum and Simunye Women’s Workers Forum, focusing on all issues related to Workers’ Rights, current affairs, strike action, CCMA and Labour Court cases. Other struggles of the working class will also be reviewed.

The CWAO is making this show available to all community Radio stations free of charge as well as providing expert studio guests from the CWAO team who speak 7 official languages.

Labour Broker Series - Episode 4

In this last episode of the series, we looked at how bosses have tried to get around the law. As well as the difficulty that workers face to become permanent due to the weakness of the law, the anti-worker politics of the CCMA and the problems of the Labour Court. In this episode we focus on the history of workers and the similarities of pre-colonial workers vs workers today. We also take a look at the realities of workers who belong to trade unions who explain the importance of organising in the workplace.

Labour Broker Series - Episode 2

In this episode, we discuss how bosses have evaded the legal requirement in existence since 2015 to appoint labour broker workers permanently after three months in the company. We will also look at the 2018 Constitutional Court decision which clearly stated that temporary employment services should be genuinely temporary, and that temporary workers placed by labour brokers at a company are automatically deemed permanent after three months of service.
